The novel coronavirus pandemic continues across the United States, so the federal government has a three-prong task ahead of it: Continue regular government operations as best it can, respond to the pandemic and, finally, keep federal employees safe in the face of the disease.

Unsaid in that is the role of contractors. The government is supported by contracted firms to fulfill many roles of government, from the cleaning crews in offices in D.C. to the logistics companies in Afghanistan and Iraq. These workers are in nearly all parts of the government and, until this past weekend, they received little to no guidance on how to go forward.

Nextgov’s Frank Konkel and GovExec’s Courtney Bublé are covering the guidance that the White House released over the weekend and joined the podcast to examine it.
